Characters That Horrified You As A Child

@ Artoo: Yes. That scene still fucks with me whenever I watch it. It was too much for me when I watched it........in daycare. :shock2:

I actually just edited my post to include that video. I watched it to check it was the right one, and I still got a twinge in my stomach.

In it's own way it's epic though. Because that was probably one of the last "kid" movies that included shit like that. Now everything is froth with happiness and shitting rainbows.

Teddy ruxpin!!!!

He was a freakin bear, and he had audio tapes he read to you. This at a time when i was five, and all my toys didnt move.

Now teddy ruxpin was expensive at first when it was released. Each tape was about $15.00. My dad had bought 300 dollars worth between the bear and all the tapes. He even had got the deluxe limited edition version, that knows your name, AND HIS EYES GLOW FREAKING RED!!!

I walk down the stairs, see a satanic bear who knows my name, and since the pack-in
batterys were near dead the tape was playing at slow speeds. This is making his voice lower pitched, speaking slowly, and sounds like satan.

I took one look, and ran upstairs crying, barracaded the door to my room with a desk, and hid under my bed and cryed.

Next day my dad couldnt figure out where he put the bear.......i burned it.

Those commercials for Teddy Ruxpin used to piss me off! Remember how nobody would talk to that little boy on the bus and ignored him UNTIL he got a talking bear? Then EVERYONE wanted to sit next to him! So Teddy pissed me off lol because I felt bad for that kid!

Ooh.....I know what else freaked me out! Those statues in Neverending Story that shot lasers out of their eyes and their body parts would crumble. Don't know why but it bugged me. And the entire psychedelic boat ride in Willy Wonka. Love the movie but wtf??? That part was freaky as hell!

The ending of the original Willy Wonka freaked me out. When Gene completely lost his shit.

But it gets a free pass because it's a staple at my house every Thanksgiving. :bowing:

Oh it's a great movie and every single time I see it on tv, I have to watch it. Even that freaky part lol. I was a weird child.......

I love that movie. I cry every time I watch it. I even watched it in French and bawled my eyes out despite barely being able to understand it.

He had a creepy voice at the time.

THE ACID QUEEN.. that whole scene with the needles and the freakin' snakes

Yeah, my parents weren't too up when it came to censorship.

This didn't scare me, but to this day, if I sing or hum this little ditty, my nearly-24-year-old sister screams and runs out of the room. 😀

Either that or she punches me.

I gotta say...Guy Smiley from Seseame Street scared the bejeezus out of me.

The Skeksis (and pretty much EVERY Jim Henson character from his non-muppet films).

And I think her name was May Muckleberry from the movie Legend (with a very young Tom Cruise). She was terrifying.

😛

Duckula; the third painting on the wall (0:45 seconds in). I had a nightmare about this bastard once 🙁

Uuuh, Ursula.... 🙂 I was too old to be scared by her when that movie came out. Thank God! I think if I was a child I actually would have been scared to death!

Does David Bowie's penis count as a character? Wait... I made this thread. Yes, yes it does.

I had a few weird ones when I was a kid. The first characters that come to mind were the "food monsters" from the old Burger Time computer game on my old TI. I'm not really sure what was so scary about being chased by giant hot dog, egg, and pickle monsters. I mean, what would happen if they caught me? They scared me for some reason, though. I also had a strange fear that moving screen shots from the game would chase me while I was going to the bathroom. 😕

Another character that scared me was the guy who was in jail on the Monopoly board. I had this fear that his image would appear in front of me in the dark while I was trying to sleep. I guess he always kinda looked like a Nosferatu, or something.

Cool thread.

First we have Aliens. These things are terrifying.

Predator

Shining Twins

Poltergeist
rosettalenoire.jpg

At first I didn't realize that was your sig, and thought you were afraid of Grandma Winslow from Family Matters :blaugh:

I go through this thread....and I read that you were freaked out by The Shining and Poltergeist, The Exorcist, IT, Pet Cemetery.....uhm, hello?? 🙂 What the hell were you watching as kids??? 🙂

I was freaked out by a whole movie: "When the wind blows".

That wasn't a kids movie either, LOL! Sure it was animated, but it was all about an old couple who believe "duck and cover" propaganda and slowly die from radiation sickness in World War 3. I didn't freak me out, but it depressed me. 🙂

I see the Skeksis got their mention. They freaked me out too. Though the chaimberlain was the creepiest of them all, I actually felt pity for him when he was cast out.

However, the Garthim was what REALLY made my heart stop. The thought of mindless, rattling, purple-glowing-eyed automatons that will stop at nothing to achieve their objective coming after me scared the ever living hell out of me!

The scene where Jan was in the dark cavern and suddenly surrounded by them terrified me to no end when I was a kid.

The land strider incident didn't help either.
