25 blows, and they only get worse from there. I turned 33 (33!!!) a couple of weeks ago, and it made me want to drink myself into a stupor.
 
Maybe it's because I'm only 25...maybe it's because I have a thing for older guys - but I really do not get the whole age complex thing. Right now I look at anybody who's under 40 as "around my age". I really don't get why people in their 30s feel old. I especially don't get why people in their twenties feel old. Twenties! You were a teenager less than a decade ago. Come on now...

27 was an EXTREMELY tough birthday for me. That was last year on Oct 26th. I have been dreading turning 28 since the day I turned 27. In fact, I dreaded turning 27 about 3 months after turning 26. The fact is the older you get the more you're going to wish you were the age you are now all over again. Hell, I'm already wishing I was only turning 27 again in two weeks instead of 28. I never felt weird about a birthday until age 25 because it was halfway through my 20's, but 26 didn't bother me at all. 27 was like the eye opener that I was on the fast track to 30. I definitely don't feel young anymore as I turn 28 soon so I know how you feel.

First let me say, love feet, that 27 is young. You have a whole life ahead of you.

For me, it's been the decade birthdays that were tough. I was not happy on my 30th bday, nor was I terribly happy on my 40th birthday. Even though, at both birthdays, I was just a couple of months away from life altering circumstances. A couple of months after my 30th, I reconciled with my father after a long estrangement, and a couple of months after my 40th, as most on here know, my mom was diagnosed with cancer.

My best advice for you would be to try and do something that makes you happy to take your mind off your bday. Spend it with someone, go out to dinner, a movie, etc. Try to enjoy the day.

My grandfather, who lived until he was almost 80, used to say about getting older "There is no alternative". Anytime I get depressed about a bday, I think of that.

Happy bday. I hope you have a good day doing something you enjoy.

I'm 23 and a little surprised the years are starting to speed up. Does it just keep getting faster until I'm dead?!
 
Heh. Well, I can sort of understand now that I'm past 30, but count me amongst those who would love to be 27 again. 😀
 
Maybe I'm weird, but I am STOKED to get old. I'm 28 now, will be 29 soon, and I'm thrilled to be staring down 30. The time I'm really looking forward to is 35 to 50; they don't call it the prime of life for nothing!

I was having a conversation about age with a group of people at my job. They're age range late 40s to early 60s. They all came to an agreement between each other that they would NEVER want to go back to being their younger selves, because each year that they grow older gets better than the last. I guess to them it would be like asking someone who's graduated high school and college if they'd want to go back to high school. Nearly everyone hates high school. LOL

I can understand the stress, but older guys are sexy, so wear it proud. Look at George Clooney, still an eligible bachelor OVER many younger guys, and looks AWESOME.

You think you're leaving your youth --- you're not. You're "young" through your 30s and even through your 40s,

and now they say the 50s are the "new 40s" and so on, since people are

STAYING YOUNG into their 60s & 70s even. 😀 And after that, you can get away with practically anything.... 😛

Personally I think people are young-ish even in their 60's --- and they can look 50-something in their 70s....
It's the person, and how you maintain yourself 🙂

You're VERY young, and you will be very young in another decade as well.

I just read about several deaths in the news, papers and online 🙁

ages 13 to 25. You are VERY lucky, and very young :grouphug:
 
This is why it's helpful to hang around the elderly. Also they have lots of great pills to swap.

Sorry to hear that getting older is something that depresses you but I think all you need is another perspective on the whole aging concept. It really isn't that horrible and besides in most cases age is but a number. Take care of yourself and keep things positive and perhaps you won't feel 'old'.

Regardless, you aren't old yet unless you believe yourself to be old. Oh and happy birthday lol
