Ok where i live they have these new video game shops that sell new game systems old game systems games ect... I had an old nintendo and games and even the olf plug in mat used in a track and field game ect... back in the day you could not give them away. 1 year ago a guy at work told me he could have gotten me 70 dollars or more for that mat on e-bay or at one of the game shops and i just put it in the trash. and some of the games and systems can go for big money more then i got just putting it at the curb for the garbage man just gets me so mad the money i could have made selling all the gaes or systems later kyle any one else have this problem

ok...so your pissed off at the shop, because you threw out your old stuff? Either i'm missing something or...i don't have a clue here.

First of all, if you're asking for people to read and respond to the things you're typing, please make more effective use of punctuation - I don't care if things are spelled wrong, but I feel like I am out of breath after reading your original post.

Secondly, what the hell are you talking about? You made a dumb mistake by throwing out your retro gaming supplies, and you're angry at the local video game stores because their policy has absolutely nothing to do with your ill-informed decision? I don't understand why you are upset at the companies.

Finally, none of the stores in my area (GameStop, EBGames, even the game places up in Q-Mart) buy anything that old. It's worth nothing to them, despite the supply/demand equation. Like my Pokemon Cards.

I've got one of these stores in the mall near me. It's not like the EB Games, Gamestop, or any of that. They specifically sell old video game consoles and cartridges. Retro video games have a bit of a following! I like to drop in every now and again to reminisce. Old video games like this can be valuable, but to the right person. I never buy, only because there's not much of a reason to, since there are emulators, and you can also buy them as Wii Ware, or on Xbox Live. In the future, I don't know if an obsolete Xbox will go for the same price as an old NES or Sega Master System. I also got rid of my old NES back in the day, once all I was playing was on my SNES and my original Playstation. I kinda kick myself for it, but I've still got an old controller, somewhere. I've still got my SNES w/ original box, which I've periodically debated eBaying when I've been hard-up for cash, but I can't bring myself to do it. That, along with the fact that it's gotten a yellowish hue from being surrounded by my mother's cigarette smoke back in the day. People would probably want it to be "pristine."

I realize my nostalgic post has no point, so to answer the original poster's question, I don't have a problem with this, aside from my original NES being gone. The only thing that DOES irritate me is that they won't give you very much for the system, and will mark it up quite a bit. Just about as bad as a pawn shop.

Kyle...

The sad news is you have to realise that the same item you pay for in a "nostalgic" video game shop it nowhere NEAR the price of the item that you hawk.

To buy: 70 to 140 bucks.

To sell to: 7 to 40 bucks.

Bottom line.

Surely you'd be better off trying to shift this stuff through e-bay or the classifieds than selling it to a shop who'll only pay you as little as they can get away with (if they even want it).

The bad news is that emulators and classic game compilations for the x-box and, I assume, PS 3 have probably depressed the market for old consoles quite significantly.

Around here, we have a place called Bookman's that buys and sells all kinds of retro games... But they're all pretty cheap. Also, you can generally pick up a working NES with a bunch of games and accessories on Craigslist for about $40 to $60, at least in the Phoenix area. Sometimes cheaper.

Play N Trade buys back everything as long as it is working. Even retro stuff.

Alex and I thought we were in heaven when we walked in.

Anyone have Goldeneye on N64 they sell me?

Sunny

Nostalgia is losing it's power with all the MATURE GAMERS SUCH AS MYSELF out there. That is, unless it comes to certain games, but eh, I was never into antiques. That said, would be nice to be able to go to a store and find some games that are only 2 gens old for fuck sake.

wow! I just wish i knew i could have gotten 70 plus dollars for the mat for the original NGS. If so i would have sold it on e-bay instead of just putting it in the trash. Going off one of my friends who is a video game freak i had like 500 dollars of stuff i threw in the trash. He told me if you find the right people on e-bay you can get good money got old games somethime. sorry for my writing!!!! i will work on it i know it sucks. You will never offend me telling me that. i do my best and keep trying. I like the comment about selling fot 40-70 buying and 4-7. that is the truth. thanks for putting up with my writing and lisa dimple toes says well to all you worthy enought to read this. she is joking I kyle said that she loves each and everyone of you like you were her own child. later
