I challenge you to name a female genius?!

I know women get upset that they are not as clever, strong, determined, intelligent, ambitious, etc. as men, but you should accept it nonetheless. Even the best chefs are men and that is one of womens traditional roles. Women are bitchy. They always bitch about other women - especially if that woman is better looking, thinner, richer etc. than she is.

Can anyone think of: -

1) A Female genius, and why that woman is a genius and not just very clever
2) A Female that is better than a man at something (actually you should be able to think of quite a lot of these, but I can't remember any off the top of my head)

1) Explain to me what the difference is between "genius" and "very clever" in some sort of quantifiable, objective scale, and I'll be glad to answer. If you want to go by IQ, then the highest IQ in the world is currently Marilyn Vos Savant - a woman. If you want to go by the ability to inspire people and change the face of history, than Cleopatra, Helen of Troy, or Joan of Arc all qualify. If you want to decide based on artistic or creative talent, than Georgia O'Keefe, Ayn Rand (also one of the great philosophers of recent history), or Laurell K. Hamilton will all do nicely.

2) This is too laughable to even answer. I can think of thousands of females that are better than me at just about everything.

Seriously, I think that for sure most of the smartest people I know are a little bit, well, odd. It's like the people skills stopped somewhere along the way but the mind keeps expanding. Bizarre.
Maybe true "genius" isn't limited to a number, but lies more in one's knowledge in general, accomplishments in life, perhaps it's all just subjective?

I was saying to Isa, that I've read that those with special talents and think in a way we'd consider genius like are very close to being severely autistic. Most severely autistic people are trapped in their own little world, unable to communicate effectively. Perhaps the genius is the person who is normal enough to appear normal, but autistic enough to think in the genius like way. Maybe more men than women exist in this way?

Many of the very intelligent people I know are also so poorly adjusted that they will never actually do anything with their intelligence.

Hon~I'm not the least bit offended. The O.P. posted that men had higher IQs than women. I simply wanted to point out that according to Guinness book, the highest IQ award belongs to a woman, thus debunking his theory. She simply scored higher on the test than men. Try her brain teasers, I know she's sure as heck stumped me over and over again, and my last IQ test I weighed in at 150. Yet many of my friends think I'm a total space cadette, probably due to my bubbly Pollyanna personality. Positive=stupid apparently.

Fair enough. But lets be honest to old Mother Teresa. She might have devoted her whole life to the poor and needy, which is incredibly admirable and which makes her an interesting and great philanthropist, but if she's had Bill's money she could pay for research into and treatment for Malaria (kills 2m a year), other preventable diseases, malnourishment etc. If the wrinkly old bag was able to offer several hundred millions of dollars to the poor, she could have lifted so many people out of poverty. Bill might not be the greater philanthropist, but undoubtedly he will have the biggest impact on helping the poor and needy of the world.

Apologies for referring to Saint Theresa (is she yet?) as a Wrinkly old bag. I'm sure someone will get all upset at my insensitive victimisation of dehydrated persons everywhere.

thank you thank and THANK YOU steph! Marilyn Vos Savant is an awesome lady. Techically MY IQ rates me as a genius but my brother is still probably the smartest person I know.

I think intelligence is all subjective... depends on how you use it.

No offense, but Marilyn Savant is nothing more than a hack columnist who has spent her life trading on one IQ test. Stephen Hawking (amongst others- both male and female) could blow her out of the water... If he (or they) had the time or inclination to sit around taking silly tests that are generally worthless unless you're having a pissing contest of the "I'm smarter than you are!" variety.

This is probably just my A level physics comming through but I liked MrMacphisto answer on the first page (won’t quote it's massive).

But apparently men have more grey matter where as women have more white matter which relates to multitasking and Ideas/original thinking, where as grey matter is for calculation ie logical thinking and maths (think I read that in Focus). Defiantly a big difference between men and women though. checkout the below

Good point about the grey vs. white matter. Clearly the matter of intelligence is far more complex than any oversimplified IQ test could ever measure.

It's pretty amusing that some infotainment journalist would jump on it to turn it into a "battle of the sexes" issue.
