Shaming TMF Members who Upload Copyrighted Clips in Public Forums

Well, just post the username a least.

That can't lead to any identity theft, because everybody's username is already in every thread they post in.

Against the Golden Rules.
Technically you could post the name if you included the fact that you forgive him, and that it was all a big misunderstanding, and you now realize he really is a great guy after all.

Can we please get a moderator ruling on that supposition?

However I think your solution Yaqi is extremely dangerous, and will lose you customers hand over fist.

No, it won't. If there's one thing I've learned about this community over the years, it's that it has a ridiculously short memory. This'll be a controversy for all of a week, then it'll fade into the background and people will go on buying clips like it never happened. That, and people are generally willing to forgive "bad" (relatively speaking) behavior from members as long as they contribute to the community, which Yaqi has been doing for years.

(originally posted before I spotted Yaqi's comment about not doing it after all. Yes, I'm late to the party.)

I'm glad you've opted to not post all the personal info. I'd hate to see some jackass try to sue you for damages...even if they deserved it.

Perhaps a similar idea though...
Post the username, e-mail and IP addy on the site and copy it to other producers. Then, contact the ISP to alert them to the theft, since it would constitue a TOS violation. I'd also be passing this info on to any & all boards where the pirated material has been posted. Maybe also put a notice right on you site(s) to let these idiots know that these will be the consequences so that they've been forewarned.

Having not used C4S or similar sites...
Is it possible for producers to submit this same info to the hosting service in order that the IP be blocked from access to yours and others content?

Back when Drew & I tried making a few vids, I made them (VHS tapes) available via e-mail request and purchase. In doing so, we had folks first agree that they would never share/copy/etc. Still, we found others had seen them. So, we simply stopped making them available to anyone. It's sad that people have such lack of respect and consideration for others! Good luck, yaqi! Kick butt!!!

Wait... if you know this, why not post this on your site? I see no valid reason, shy of being unsure, to not do that much. If you are 100% positive you know this guy is doing it, post their TMF name on your page and tell everyone to go look.

I wouldn't. If this person is using the same screen-name on both forums, then posting it may enable people to find all of his illicitly-posted material quickly and easily via a simple web search.

I say this. Make your own video and post it. Do not take someone elses material and post it here withought consent from the producer. Don't be a piss-ant. I admire and apreciate the work these producers put together and if you want their material, buy and keep it to yourself.

I doubt their ISP will even care. We're just very small fish and it's not like we can just write a letter like the RIAA and make the entire earth shake and tremble.

Odds are the ISP will opt to ignore it, as they know we don't have the mega-resources and would rather we lose a sale, than they lose a customer

Okay ive read this thread and do have a question about the vehicle used for the viewing of material. i have spent some money on pay per view sites that several producers here and elsewhere have posted their videos. As far as I know (and you can prove me wrong if you wish) these cannot be easily copied or shared. So heres my question: Is it profitable to do this with your vids? Do these sites track the amount of money spent towards watching a particular video and give a kickback to the original producer, or does the producer just get an initial check as a thank you for donating to their pay site?

I have issues with the idea that my personal information would be available for viewing/use when i purchase a movie from C4S and have wondered what kind of potential security danger I was putting myself in when I bought clips from C4S. Ive tried to offset my fears by using a fake name, prepaid credit card, and an alias hotmail email address, but I know the original IP address is still available. That is why I have used the pay per view option.

Thoughts, comments on that?:ty:

While I can understand the obvious frustration of Yaqi and other producers, I too think what's being suggested here should be thought out carefully. Pirating material and distributing it when others have paid their due's and the producers depend on customers to make more material is just flat out wrong. I don't buy a lot of clips, but its kind of a piss off to learn that people are just passing it around freely.

Another thing I don't agree with here is the "witch hunt" mentality being encouraged. So you say this person is a regular posting Canadian? That unfairly implicates a number of friendly, well-meaning folks who contribute to this site regularly.

Hmm, Canadian and posts here on a regular basis. :hmm:

Has he responed to this thread yet?
How many more clues are we allowed before we have to guess?

Have you sent any fish yet Yaqi?

How about if everyone from Canada posts on here one by one with the following question:
"Hey Yaqi, is the perpetrator too much of a coward to post on this thread?"
That has to gradually start narrowing it down somewhat. :sherlock:
Probably get really annoying though!

I've been reviewing all his posts and he seems too much of a cowardly loser to come forth and admit what he did. He is a person with no honor.

Aha, but he wouldn't need to. For every Canadian that receives the response from yourself "yes, he is too much of a coward". Then that is one more Canadian ticked off the list, which grows increasingly shorter each time.
Based upon what we already know, it is someone that regularly posts - this also narrows it down. Finally, unless you've deliberately used "he" to fool us, we can also rule out any females.
However, I still reckon this could get really annoying if hundreds of Canadians suddenly start posting on this thread with the same question, although you could give a 'bulk response' after a few.
Ok, stupid idea I know. Just couldn't resist a bit of sleuthing when I saw it suggested 😀
Just trying to amuse myself on a Friday night when all my mates have decided to stay at home, the bastards!

I'm crossing off every Canadian that posts to this thread. :rotate: :cool2:

If that member knows he's at fault and guilty and takes the coward road, then he could easily change his location to like South Dakota and we wouldn't be the wiser.

I'll be the wiser. And the people he chats with might take notice of his sudden change of address and put 2 and 2 together and realize that he's the rat motherfucker that the golden rule prevents me from revealing.

Lynch the Canadian bastard!!!

I don't know maybe it is just me but don't you think your time would be better spent if you actually did something productive about fixing the problem rather than just posting in this thread ?

My attorney is doing something about it as we speak. But these things take time.

Attorney ? hmm was it awkward telling him why you are filing a lawsuit ?

Attorney ? hmm was it awkward telling him why you are filing a lawsuit ?

Not at all. He is a huge fan of my work and I produced a high end settlement video that got him a settlment of over 100 million dollar suit a few years ago. He's also a former Texas DA who sent several people to death row. He's intimidating, and honest and just the man for the job.

Here's what I never understood. WHY pirate materials and show them to everyone for FREE? What benefit do these pirates get for buying a clip and sharing it with everyone? I can understand the freeloaders loving it, but the pirate? He gets nothing for it.

I wish you could reveal who it is. The funny thing is, everyone will look at Canadiens with suspicious eyes. Why can't this dope just respond to you privately? Out of curiosity Yaqi, what if he does respond to you and asks for forgiveness? Maybe he hasn't responded because he is scared shitless at this point.

I think a lot of pirates, many of which are in different countries, have socialist mentalities
