After reading a thread on here regarding calling escort services or visiting legal brothels in Nevada, I was wondering what the general opinion on here is with prostitution. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with it if it were government approved and therefore taxable. I think under the circumstances of legalizing sexual services, they would need to meet particular standards (i.e. health codes), including regular blood tests and sometimes random urine tests done in order to make sure that the male or female prostitutes are disease free and not taking serious drugs such as heroin.

I am not a supporter of picking up crack-***** prostitutes off of a random street corner, mainly because it's extremely unsafe, but I personally have no problem with the concept of legalizing brothels. What is your point of view on the matter?

Yes, as long as both the client and the prostitute are adults.

It's legal in parts of Nevada outside of Vegas. I believe states and then counties within that state can vote on it. I would vote "NO" im my county but I don't have a problem with it, if it's voted in.

Not yet. It's too early, we haven't made sufficient adjustments in our culture to manage it properly. It would fall apart way too fast and then everybody will say "told you it wouldn't work" and then it would get repealed.

It should be legalised and regulated to keep kids and pimps out of it. To be in that industry you should have to be 21, and working at a licensed establishment (aka brothels). This would keep the women off the streets and in a reasonably safe invoroment. I saw something on the news about the Bunny Ranch in Vega and it looks like those women are well taken care off... grant it I don't know how well looked after they are if they ever did catch something from a Jon, or if thier faces were ever messed up. I've always thought if a woman is going to get into that line of work make sure you have something else going for you, like buisness know how for example, invest that money for your future REAL ESTATE!

Let's work on finding cures for what illegal sluts give people first, THEN talk about making them legal.

Never should've been made illegal in the first place IMO.

Sometimes men want relationships, and sometimes they just want relations. I'd rather he pay a prostitute than to treat me like one.😱

The problem with it being legalized, nobody wants it next to them, especially if they have kids. I am quite surprised that Nevada is the only state that has legalized it thus far. I hope Obama doesn't step in and require everbody to buy a prostitute and then the courts will rule it unconstitutional.

No. It should be mandatory.

Like a draft? When everyone turns 18, they have to register with the selective prostitution services. 😛

I'm just trying to picture what the certification schooling would be like. Could you imagine taking a girl home to your parents and having conversations about occupations?

"So, what do YOU do, Denise?"

"Well, I'm a certified prostitute, specializing in oral servicing, with some experience collaborating with teams. I hope to one day expand my skills into anal therapy, or maybe move into upper management, but there's just SO much politics!"

"That's great! Where did you go to school?"

"Well, don't let anyone fool you. Some would have you believe that you have to go to a prestigious university to have any credentials in this business, but I obtained all my schooling and certifications at my local community college, AND they helped me with job placement!"

It can be amazing what goes on next door right under the neighborhood's noses sometimes.......

But they can buy a property with enough acreage to do whatever pleases the clientele without disturbing anyone else's peace.

And what the hell does Obama have to do with the subject matter in this thread? If anyone made the same comment about one of your neocon gods, you and your buddies would scream bloody murder. Next thing you'll be blaming him for the disappearance of the Lindburgh baby.....this nonsense never seems to stop.

I know this will be extremely difficult, almost impossible for you to do but could you please leave it in P&R?

I think so. I once got a jury summons. When we got to the courtroom it turned out to be a prostitution case. The "John" in this case was an undercover police officer.

Before jury selection they asked if anyone would rather not serve and I raised my hand. I told the judge I would serve but would not vote to convict regardless of the evidence presented as my conscience would not allow me to support what I considered a bad law. It goes without saying I was summarily dismissed.

Legalizing prostitution won't solve all the problems associated with it, but I think it is a step in the right direction.

It might as well be. If it was legal, there'd be more ways to keep prostitutes safe and cops could worry about more important things than the lonely old men that need to pay for sex. It's the oldest profession anyway. It's not like it will ever stop happening, legal or otherwise.

You sir, are crazy!

I am too, but I think you nailed it. Like prisons and waste incinerators, everybody recognizes the need, but the NIMBY factor makes it difficult if not impossible to find suitable locations.

The entire industry would have to undergo an "extreme makeover." Instead of being sleazy street corner enterprizes, they would have to become similar to therapy treatment centers, like acupuncture or chiropractic. You know, make it more neighborhood friendly.

I hope Obama doesn't step in and require everbody to buy a prostitute and then the courts will rule it unconstitutional.
LOL. That's hilarious! :man:

It is not just "lonely old men" who use the services of a prostitute. A lot of married men, and single men with girlfriends are arrested for picking up prostitutes. Why do they do it? For a variety of reasons I suppose.

HELL YEAH then goverment can tax it, maybe even make it manitory that they get licensed and to be licensed you have to have H.I.V. test done twice a year. If legal then double fines for the street walkers and it may in a way clean up some areas lets say seedy areas of cities.
