Tales From the Low Roads, Chapter 26 (M/FFF, UB; */F, feet).

Hello Darth V! Very nice to hear from you again! Thank you for your inspiring and much-appreciated plaudits! I've created a chapter checklist of sorts (located through my signature: http://www.ticklingforum.com/showthread.php?t=197264 ) so that locating early installments (so easy to lose track of in the voluminous art archive) is rather simpler than it was in the past. Hope it proves useful!

This instalment of Low Roads drives me absolutely batty! 🙂 (Where is Bruce Wayne when we need him? 🙂 )

Seriously, fantastic work, as usual! The main character, Mercy, is an outstanding tickle subject. And she's got lovely feet! Wish there were some way to make her real so I could tickle her (and so she could take her revenge out on me! 😉

Being driven bats is the appropriate state of mind! Though Bruce Wayne might be too much for this crew; he'd straighten things out in about a day (roughly one issue)!

Your compliments are most kind, Kopfhorer! Mercy and I appreciate them very deeply! She may be standoffish about offering her feet for attention, but I plan to allow her little choice! Actually, I have investigated the possibility of rendering her, if not flesh and blood, at least a bit more tangible through sculpture. A few years back, a bunch of us at the TTC had plans to craft fetish dioramas; mine would have featured Mercy in stocks. I got as far as constructing a few of the body parts and then lost interest (none of the dioramas were ever completed). If ever I do finish this comix series, I may still have a crack at it! As to outrage and revenge, who can say! Pygmalion made the transition work… Mercy may be by one day!

I am so tardy in my reply to this latest chapter that I might have actually set a new record. In fact I'm sort of noticing a pattern in my replies to this outstanding series. Every chapter gets me more and more enraptured...and thus warrants a more thorough reply...and in waiting for a more thorough reply...more and more time passes...until it gets almost absurd. LOL.

The latest installment is awesome, LR. I love Charity. Like so many others, I love the bat. I love the action-focused approach. I think this chapter represents the least amount of actual written text I can remember ever seeing in a Low Roads installment. And although I would usually lament the lack of more beautiful prose - I find the fast-paced scenes and flowing panels to be an absolute delight.

It's such a pleasure to read your work. Would that I could have replied sooner. but please understand it was your virtues that kept me at bay.

I pine for more.

Thanks for your kind appraisal once again, Detritus! I'm doubly complimented; first, that you'd gain fresh interest in a story so long underway (trying to pick up or become invested in plot points in the middle of a story is no easy thing); and secondly that you'd go to the trouble of reading the entire series from the beginning! Truly a heroic labor, this latter, as there are so many pages of background to catch up! I'm most honored and flattered that you should do so!

no no, not at all... it was a pleasure to make my way through the story and get to know the characters

i meant to say this in my first reply but i was a little strapped for time to find the pages to which i wanted to refer - there is a part in chapter 8 where Mayor Allgoode shows Sherif Mew his room full of tickling curios.... that room is one of my favourite ever things i have seen depicted.. i very much admire the way you capture such delighted revelry in tickling in quite reduced detail... the damsel chained to a post being tickled by a dragon... someone locked in a trunk being tickled by mice.. the totem pole.. the naked lady "running away" from an unseen tickler just out of the panel but obviously delighting in her predicament.. i long to visit that room and spend a day perusing the mayor's collection

It's quite true, I do tend to gravitate toward the fantastical or sinister with my storylines and characters (just as you seem to explore adventuresome scenarios in your art). I like to let this extend to the tickling encounters, as it accentuates an exciting feeling of the profane and forbidden. Forbidden passion is a measure more titillating!

it's true, i do like my tickling to take place in a remote and exotic location, or a fey inhabited parallel universe, where calls for help and frenzied laughter will not result in release (except in isobel's case... tickling always brings her release, but of a different kind)

Perhaps one day you'd grant me the privilege of featuring Isobel or Abigail in a Low Roads chapter! I've been quite fortunate in having been permitted to include the high-profile OCs of other fine forum artists in the series' continuity over the years. Your ladies wouldn't feel particularly out of place… plenty of creepy-crawlies for either or both them to run afoul of in Tabor County!

oh my goodness, of course you can feature isobel and abigail in your story, i would love to see them at the mercy of the inhabitants (and especially the flora and fauna) of Tabor County - they are with me now and are reading this post too... isobel is quite weak with excitement at the thought of such a plight

I'll never gripe about timing! The Deeto's commentary is a much reveled-in pleasure and worth any wait! Thanks so much for writing, my friend! It's deeply appreciated… I know how overwhelmingly busy you are, and your dedication to the Community is prized all the more highly for it!

In fact I'm sort of noticing a pattern in my replies to this outstanding series. Every chapter gets me more and more enraptured...and thus warrants a more thorough reply...and in waiting for a more thorough reply...more and more time passes...until it gets almost absurd. LOL.
Ha ha! I understand completely and often find myself in the same difficulty: wishing to do a valued submission justice, but never seeming to have adequate leisure. To be fair, this Low Roads chapter has only been out a couple of weeks and any reply would be well within the window of reasonableness. I, on the other hand, have let months elapse before responding to a given thread, which borders on necromancy. If anyone had a right to gripe, it sure wouldn't be me! Though a gripe would be short-sighted indeed… this reply serves as a nice bump-up, which is always a welcome courtesy!

The latest installment is awesome, LR. I love Charity.
Thank you very much for saying so, both for the general praise and for singling out Charity! It hasn't been implicitly stated so, but Charity is the key character I'd planned to introduce in Bliss Harbor (with no disrespect to Chastity… she'll have her own distinct story arc to fulfill). As sort of the local skeptic (not being enthralled with fetish concerns in a tale devoted to it), I hope that her outsider perspective will provide useful counterpoint to the general spirit of delirious hedonism. She'll have lots to do in upcoming Chapter 27; much will occur to confirm her personality and outlook.

Like so many others, I love the bat.
I'm so pleased that you do! I had hoped he'd go over well! It was high time for Mercy to begin to experience the weight of real responsibility, and a pet is the first taste of it most of us get. However, this guy is more than capable of looking after himself; confronting his desires will likely be more challenging than seeing to his needs! Both will learn much from one another as their relationship develops.

I love the action-focused approach. I think this chapter represents the least amount of actual written text I can remember ever seeing in a Low Roads installment. And although I would usually lament the lack of more beautiful prose - I find the fast-paced scenes and flowing panels to be an absolute delight.
Thanks once again! You're certainly right about the non-didactic approach in this chapter; it was a rather deliberate decision to attempt a more frisky rhythm, with less reliance on the heavy exposition I tend to love (with the exception of the girls gassing on and on in the Crystal Marina to foreshadow their trip to Pandataria; well, there's got to be some measure of internal pacing). Action scenes, as you know so well (your "Bounce Chix" tales, true to their moniker, are jammed to the plimsoll line with wondrous manic slapstick!), are tremendous fun to concoct and realize! If I can convey any amount of that enjoyment, it's effort well spent!

It's such a pleasure to read your work. Would that I could have replied sooner. but please understand it was your virtues that kept me at bay.

Pleasure deferred is pleasure enhanced, good sir! Little as I'd ever wish to keep our Community's own Robin Hood distant, anticipation boosts my satisfaction to the same I'd experience on a longed-after holiday! The crafty Deeto wears many guises… Santa Deeto (the elfin Spirit of Generosity) is one we all love large!

no no, not at all... it was a pleasure to make my way through the story and get to know the characters
That's tremendously gratifying for me, Detritus! It's the sort of dedicated story interest I always long for this series to have!

Wow! That's a really thorough appraisal, so many small background bits you site! I'm terribly grateful and I salute your astute eye for detail! Allgoode's fetish museum (his by inheritance, once his wife disappeared) is rather a distillation of the more insubstantial collections most of us tickle fanatics tend to have put together in digital (or in other venues we can readily guard from outside snooping) form. His locked doors are more of a giveaway than our passwords and flash storage devices tend to be, but there's also a trade-up in the tactile nature of the artifacts. Frankly, the bounty is wasted on Allgoode, who's too goody-two-shoes to appreciate it. For him, it serves principally as a moldering memorial to his lost love (though even he couldn't fail to appreciate its material estimability).

it's true, i do like my tickling to take place in a remote and exotic location, or a fey inhabited parallel universe, where calls for help and frenzied laughter will not result in release (except in isobel's case... tickling always brings her release, but of a different kind)
The most sought-after kind, of course! 😀

Delighted to hear you say so! It would be an extreme honor for me to host your lovely ladies; they couldn't be more welcome! I have an idea for them which could be implemented a couple of chapters from now (Chapter 28 would afford an ideal opportunity); I'll send you a PM soon with full details so as to obtain your input and your approval!

That red suit would tend to make you an easy target for the Sheriff's men, I know! Till the next round of gift-giving, SD!

Chapter 27, just as soon as I can make it happen! Thank you kindly for the generous attention, my friend!

fantastic, i look forward to hearing about their impending predicaments

I loved it and I forgot to say how much I did.
So, however belated, thumbs way up.

I apologize, I've been rather tardy on that front! I meant to send you a PM far sooner than this… fact is, I've done next to nothing in the way of work on upcoming story for the last month and a half, having instead devoted the time to upgrading the images from chapters 1-26 (rescanning at a larger size, color correcting, reworking some of the early art, etc.) in preparation for posting it all at dA. Which is a long-winded way of saying my head's been rather out of the game as far as new storytelling material is concerned… I'll do my very best to send you the scenario soon, as promised!

I loved it and I forgot to say how much I did.

Thank you, Kal! 😀 I certainly haven't felt neglected by you; your kudos at the TTC was exceeding generous and as immediate as one could hope for! Your added congratulations here is deeply appreciated and not at all late as far as I'm concerned! Sir Kaldred can do no wrong by me! He is the fount of chivalric courtesy!

Not sure if I've ever mentioned this, dude, but I hate you. Allow me to explain:

At random intervals over the last seven (approximately) years, I've been forced to drop everything and lose roughly half an hour every single time you post one of these. I've been late to work, missed turning things in, ignored dates who came in "for a cup of coffee" (wink wink), hung up on various friends and family... The list goes on. All because of you and your great art, interesting story, excellent sense of humor, and amazing way with words. Being good enough to entice people to read one's work is admirable. Being good enough to COMPEL people to read one's work? That's a little freaky. And yes, in case you're wondering, you're the latter.

Anyway, just wanted to say "thank you," in a round-about sort of way, for providing me with a ton of entertainment over the past few years. Please take the above in the tongue-in-cheek manner in which it was intended. You're awesome, keep it coming, and for the love of all that's holy take a shot at doing something like this professionally. (If you don't already.)

Dear Asutickler… so terribly sorry about the interuptions I've contributed to your normal life's routine! Your ire is entirely justified, I must admit… though if one has to be hated, this is the best of all possible ways! Thank you for providing your own ton of entertainment with this creative, detailed, most exhilarating post! It's a pretty blamed amazing piece of work!

I may be getting a little old to contemplate embarking on an actual comix career (nearly in my 60s now)… but thanks so much for suggesting the possibility! At the moment, I'm quite content to work on this single title in amateur fashion; were I to do it for pay, I'd certainly have trouble constructing it the way I want (it'd be mighty awkward trying to include all the Community cameo appearances which add so much richness to the series). Next time, supposing I get a second go-around at life, I'll study art early on to gain the skills that would make such a notion a likelihood! Once well established, I'd have any easier time doing as I pleased!

Here's hoping that the next Low Roads installment isn't nearly so much of a disrupting force as it has been! Though the next time a young lady comes up for "coffee", by all means invite her to have a look! Who knows… she might be into it too!

Again… many, many thanks for such an extensive, considerate and very witty recognition of the things I try to accomplish with this comic story! It means much to me to know that the Low Roads is enjoyed by someone so literate and articulate! Such replies are a great source of pride!
