My boy, Mark Martin, made the chase. :bouncybou

Overall, it was a good race. Sorry about your #20, lk.

I'm also very sorry about #24 making it too. :blaugh:

Yeah, I see J. Gordon snuck in the race, and T. Stewart is out (sadly, so is C. Edwards).
Oh well - Matt and Mark shall bring Ford the title.

I still cannot fathom why trucks were made to race in circles - they are TRUCKS, meant to be worked, raised, monstersized - not droppped, tripped, and made dizzy.

i tell you, it was disappointing watching the 20 team not make the chase, and that probably had a lot to do with his attitude on the track and with him trying to retaliate back against his competitors. but i hate to be the naysayer on this, but i'm not sure mark has enough to get the title, he is the sentimental favorite, and i would like to see him win one, but i just think he just isn't competitve enough to get up there and compete for it.

otherwise, i'm all for denny hamlin going up there and getting it. he maybe a rookie, but he's very talented and consistent with running top 10's and 15's, and i think he'll get up there and challenge for more top 5's with the other big boys.

and if only jeff gordon fell out of the chase............

and by the way, the cradtsman trucks are fun to watch because they let them actually touch on the track. just my opinion but if you haven't watched one, i would go out there and do it.

i haven't really watched any truck races..however Mark is doing very well with that this year..i should start watching..since i enjoy the car races so much..

ps..i wish jeff hadn't made it. and i'm glad tony didn't..

Sheesh, I think this thread title should be changed to The "I Hate Jeff Gordon" Thread. I know, I know, I should be used to it by now, but still..... 😡

you can like who you wish..no one will ostracize you for that..i happen to not like him..but there are many others i don't like as well..such as Kevin Harvick, one of the Busch guys..Kurt maybe..and plenty of others..

There aren't many drivers that I don't like. One or two may tick me off at certain times, but then they most likely get back on my good side eventually....namely Tony Stewart, Matt Kenseth and a few others. The only drivers that I really can't seem to like both have the initials K.B. Won't take you long to figure out who they are. 😉

hmm Kurt Bush? well when i said there are plenty..actually i only meant one or two lol..i was just trying to make you feel that not everyone hates jeff gordon..i don't hate him..i just don't care for him as i used to...

my favorite is Mark Martin always..followed by Jimmy Johnson...who btw at one time i could not stand..

i'm not sure who the other K.B. stands for..hmm is there another Bush? lol..
o and i don't care for Robby Gordon..and case in point..i used to like Tony..but his attitude turned me against him..

Ick! Robby Gordon. :sowrong: Forgot about him...probably because I always try to forget about him. And the other K.B. just so happens to be the first K.B.'s little bro. 😉

i don't like either of the busch brothers myself, but i believe kyle is getting just a little better, but i could be way out there.

tony stewart just wants everything his way. he complains at the beginning of the year at daytona about someone going to kill someone racing the way they did at daytona and then he rams the side of matt kenseth. then later on in the year, he sticks his fist out of the car at pocono and runs into the side of clint boywer causing him and carl edwards to wreck. and there are a couple more incidents to come with that. but he just needs to shut his mouth and race clean.

and then robby gordon hasn't shown much attitude this year. i've actually been impressed. the worse that he's done this year is banging into the side of kurt busch on a road course and i thought that was pretty damn entertaining. and that was the final lap of a busch race at watkins glen going for the win! if that's the worse, with the fact he runs his own team and has gone from 25-70 empolyees, i think he deserves justa little bit of credit.

but i like hearing everyone's opinions. and by the way, for isabeau, mark martin finished 10th in the truck race today at new hampshire.

Thanks TickleBelly..i love Mark..i hope he goes out with a bang, but not a crash...lol..

mark martin had another solid race today finishing 11th, and he's only 75 pts. from race leader and new points leader kevin harvick. but someone tell me, just from watching the 1st race, and this is for anyone to answer, do you think kevin harvick could come home with both the nextel cup and busch series titles?

as anyone...i answer yes that is definitely possible..dang but Harvick is on a roll...

well since harvick and burton got busted a little for there wheel rims.( not illegal) but i do think it will hurt them though.
i stand by my predection that jeff gordon will be 5 time champion!

I'm pretty sure Harvick has the Busch title wrapped up, but I'm not so sure about the Cup title. Yes, he is on a roll and he's been very strong this last half of the season, but his crew chief is known for pushing the envelope and, as we found out about the whole tire/rim issue, is willing to take some steep risks to win races, which may or may not help in the long run. And Kevin Harvick is somewhat of a hot-head and is known for his short temper, and that could hinder his chances for a Cup Championship. But I like Harvick (even if I don't agree with his on-track actions sometimes) and I think it would be cool if he could win both titles. But I'll always be rooting for Jeff Gordon. This hasn't been his strongest year by any stretch of the imagination, but he could very well be the possible "sleeper" to watch out for. I wouldn't count out Kasey Kahne either. He fought hard to get into the Chase and will fight hard to win the Cup, not to mention some of Kahne's best tracks such as Texas and Atlanta are in the 10-race Chase schedule. But all the guys that made the Chase deserve to be there. So really, the Championship could easily go to any one of them.

yeah, very true on the busch title, but on the cup side, he is on a serious roll.

jeff gordon is no sleeper. he's had 4 top 5's in the past 5 races and his consistency has gotten better and his chemistry with crew chief steve letarte.

with kasey kahne, his best tracks are coming up, but i think he'll have too many mulligans, and you can only afford 1 if lucky in the chase. i felt he used that up this weekend at new hampshire, because he may have finished 16th in the race, but 8th and on the bottom of chase contenders that finished the race. kasey kahne is not strong at talladega, martinsville or phoenix. but he could be there.

but i'm still going for denny hamiln. he is not just holding the banner for joe gibbs racing, but he showed at new hampshire that he's going to be around. his consistency is excellent and has had 7 top 10's in the last 8 races. even though top 10's isn't great proof for what i'm saying, i think him going back to tracks a 2nd time and having defending champion tony stewart helping him out will be beneficial to him and that will help majorly.

but thanks for replying mislaffsalot. and happy tickles to your belly, lol!

I think Harvick has a decent shot at both championships and wouldn't that be something to see?

Given that my 20 car isn't in the game, I'm gonna have to root for Junior, but really I don't think the team has it together just yet.

I'll not complain about the miserable showing of the 48 and 5 of course. Traditionally those who do poorly at Loudon aren't in it at the end. :bouncybou

that's a good point lk70, because i remember when tony stewart wrecked at loudon in 2004 and he never ended up getting a top 5 in any of the chase races that year. same deal with kurt busch last year (even though he didn't compete in 2 races, which made jeremy mayfield not finish last in the chase for 2 years running). thanks for bringing that up, i wouldn't have thought about that.

This is a thought provoking article you all might like to read

http://www.frontstretch.com/jmeyer/5301/

Among other things, Meyer suggests easing up on the political correctness in Nascar and let the drivers beat the crap out of each other if they want. Let Nascar be the "bad boy" in the sports world.

I couldn't agree more and I know there are several of us here who miss the old rough and tumble days.

I agree with you, they need to quit being politically correct. More people are getting screwed that way than anything. That's why I watch the Craftsman Truck Series. It is shown on speed, and some people don't have it, but I mean, they at least can touch without being penalized a lap. I mean, what's next, parking Jeff Gordon because he gave someone a donut on the side of the car.

If they haven't realized yet, Bristol sucked this year and they need to just let them race.

whoohoooooooooo Jeff Burton ended his long losing drought today..it was close between him and Matt Kenseth..but he prevailed..and then poor Kenseth ran out of gas..and now Jeff leads the championship points..yippee

Wasn't that awesome? I actually cried. I'm such a ninny. I would so love to see an RCR car take this championship, particularly Burton.

On another slightly related topic, I read an article earlier this week whose writer was of the opinion that Dale Jr, whose contract with DEI is up at the end of 2007, is going to go to RCR and drive the #3 red and black Budweiser car in 2008. Gave me chills just thinking about it. I can't imagine what it will feel like to see that #3 on the track again.

noo you aren't a ninny..hubby got tears also hehe..i stood up and yippeed the whole time..cheering Go Jeff Go Jeff..and his wife was so happy...now all we need is for Ward to return next season..i always liked him..and his accent.

and wowo for the number three to be on the track again? yes that will give me chills also..

i am glad for burton. he not just snapped his own losing streak, but he kept RCR's streak of winning alive. but right behind his heels though would scare me because it's the other jeff. only 6 points behind and going to tracks that gordon can run well on, if he keeps running the way he is, watch out.

but jr in the 3 is what the sport needs, but jr must get more aggresive like his dad to really suit the ride in my opinion. plus be more consistent and not hitting or missing the set up
