It sure was. Getting rid of Norton security suite and replacing it with CA security suite helped a lot, but the performance didn't get back to normal until I bought a new memory chip. 😀 😛

Oddly enough,I have never had a problem with Norton Not sure who I will go with for security for my next laptop 😀 😛

The newer Norton products are better then some of the older versions. The problems almost always arise when you have to remove and reinstall or upgrade to a newer version. Its very hard to remove Norton from a system once it is installed. Also their tech staff is not too swift from my experience I talked with them for 4 hours they could not fix my problem. I went online myself and fixed it in 10 minutes.

My beefs with Norton are these:

1) As explained above, their security suite slowed down my computer considerably, as evidenced by the fact that it ran very much faster the moment their programs were removed.

2) Three months later, they automatically renewed my subscription for another year and charged me for it on the credit card I had used, even though I had clearly and unmistakably checked "one time purchase" when I bought their product in the first place. :Grrr:

Norton can be a big resource hog. One of the reasons why I chose Eset Smart Security. 😀 😀 😛
 
I should point out in their defense that when I protested the charge to American Express it was only a few days until Norton agreed to remove it. It may have been the fact that I told AX never to accept any charge from them under any circumstances that convinced them I was seriously upset. 😀 😛
