The Self Referential Thread

In the frigid weather here, I just look at my tickets for spring training games in Arizona and anticipate the sunshine there. 😀 😛

It got to the 20's F here in Ohio today Wanna trade locations? :fingerscrossed:

😀 😛

Actually I always liked the cold. I really cant take the heat. Probably from me working in the desert for awhile at the explosives plant, Always was around 100-135 in there. 🙁

😀 😀 😛

The climate of Southern California is wasted on you. 😀 😛

I don't see how anyone could work in that heat 😀 😛

Its easier and cheaper to keep warm then cool as well. We paid over a 1000 dollars for our electric bill in the hottest part of summer out here. So while the heat might sound fun and glorious its darn expensive. The winter is a lot cheaper.

😀 😀 😛

Very^9999999999999999999999999999 true for out there my friend It would be nice to live in a perfect climate Say no more than 65F or so in the day,and no less than 45F at night 😀 😛

Very few places have a perfect climate needing neither AC in the summer nor heating in the winter. 😀 😛

I heard a report that said 75 is like idea temperature for most people. 65 would be good though too. 😛

Actually Central California is probably pretty close. It never gets really hot there or really cold. Only problem is its expensive probably cause its so nice LOL. You also get a few more storms then in Southern Calif as well. 😀 😀 😛

Not to mention earthquakes, which are a different problem. 😀 😛

As long as it gets warm enough for me to wear shorts,I am happy 😀 😛

There is advanced technology for cooling or heating that no one seems to have explored. It revolves around the fact that at any temperature there is a statistical distribution of molecules at various energies. What the device does it to seperate the low energy molecules from the high energy ones. Thus if you want heat you collect the high energy ones and put them in your room. You want cooling you put the low energy ones into your room. Very nice device. Was in Scientific American never seen anyone use it or explore it.

Probably because it makes too much sense to use it 😛

An actual Maxwell's Demon in operation? How much does it cost? 😀 😛

Well the Scientific American one was rather small but really just needs fans to move the air about from what I saw. Fans are not too pricey to operate usually about 170 watts for a big one vs 1350 watts lets say for my 15000 BTU AC. 😀 😀 😛 My guess is there is probably a problem scaling it up. Seems though people shouls at least research it. 🙁

😀 😛 😀

It sounds very promising to me. In any mass of air, the temperature is a measure of the average kinetic energy of the molecules and some of them will, of course, be well above or well below average. 😀 😛

Yes thats the principle. Its like a kinetic seperator. Not sure if anoyone explored it further. The article I mentioned was in Sci. Amer. like maybe 25-30 years ago. 😛

😀 😀 😛

I want one of those for my apartment (as long as it's small enough to fit in the window like a room AC), it could be used for heating in winter and AC in summer. 😀 😛
