They've been in Manhattan. People from New Jersey or Connecticut tend to be afraid to go to the other boroughs or get lost in them. 😱

Not all of it. Some neighborhoods, however, are run by drug gangs. Any stranger is presumed to be law enforcement undercover, best executed and disposed of into the river or an unmarked grave. 😱

1. You are a member of the drug gang.

2. You are a known customer of the drug gang.

3. You are a cop working undercover for the narcotics squad of the NYPD or for the DEA.

4. You are lost or have no idea where you have wandered.

5. You are crazy.

There are areas in Los Angeles like that. Fortunately in LA these areas are far apart and so its hard to accidentally wander into them. Compton is one of the most notable one. 😀

Yes they are well known. West LA and Inglewood can be bad as well. You can usually tell when a LA neighborhood is bad as the number of tatoo parlors and pawn shops increases dramatically. 😛

Yes as you get deep in the Valley you run into the gangs. A friend once said at the bus stop he was at someone pulled out a shotgun as they drove by the busstop. He just froze and said "I did not run cause I dint not want them to think there was a reason to shoot me."

After that he caught the bus up further north. 😛
