About 30 year ago. But back when my brother was an intern, they still did the 36 hour shifts, sometimes with only 12 hours off before the next shift. 😱

I guess they considered analogous to an initiation to get a license to practice medicine. I think the real reason the system was changed is that large numbers of women began to go to medical school and they wouldn't put up with it.

The were actually some radioactive things coming out of mexico I think. I think it was furniture. It was made from recasting leftover nuclear reactor parts. Nothing like a Chernobyl Coffee Table. 😛
