I'm going to offer my thoughts all in this post. I'm going to add to it as I go, so please wait until I tell you that I'm done to respond to it!
First off, for the limited scope of people who will be downloading, you could use Microsoft's SkyDrive. Hit skydrive.live.com and sign in with a Passport like a Hotmail name and you can store 25GB of files with a publicly-accessible folder!
At first look, I have to say that I see one horrid issue right off the bat... you give the player the ability to change their name, but... um... this is not possible. At least it's not possible in a way that's obvious to the user.
The text entry box sets the cursor at the end of the default name and there's not an obvious way to clear the characters.
EDIT: I found it rather accidentally. You have to use the Insert key. If there's a way to change that to Backspace or Delete, that would be a good idea!
Next, I can't continue this review since after playing for ten minutes, I found absolutely nothing that I could do. Only one guy would talk to me in Klingon town or whatever it's called. Hehe... But he just ran off and I found no change caused by him leaving. Stymied at every turn. There's nowhere to go and well...
Perhaps you need to re-think the way the intro works? It may be great for people who have played all of the Finalfantasy games twelve times, but you really should re-consider flattening the learning curve for the rest of us. I'll even say it in a foreign language to help strengthen my request...
