safewords should only be disregarded if you 100% trust the person you're having a session with.

Because "STOP" is a generalized reaction, and the lee doesn't always mean for the ler to stop. The use of a safeword let's the ler know the lee seriously wants to stop . . for whatever the reason may be.

I think you're forgetting there is a lot of people who meet up who don't know each other 100%. A safeword is a security blanket for both... the ler knows when enough is enough and not have to worry about missing the clues.. a lee can be at ease in his/her mind about being able to stop the play if need be.

not everyone uses safewords.... femfttickler21 and i started with one... for the reasons listed above... he now knows me well enough that we have since done away with it.. but trust needs to be there and the ler really needs to know the lees reactions before that happens.

Things can happen that make a session stop being fun and start being either sincerely unpleasant or dangerous. Maybe bondage hurts, maybe you start choking, maybe you just can't take anymore. In any case, there has to be a way to stop.

Sometimes something goes wrong that has nothing to do with the tickling. It can be a severe muscle cramp from the awkwardness of the bondage position, or an urgent need to use the toilet because what you ate for lunch isn't agreeing with you.

For me and my play partner, Goddess Shelly, a safeword does NOT mean, "You're tickling me too much," but rather it does mean, "Something is wrong that might cause severe pain or a big mess, so stop immediately and ask me what's wrong."

I always give my lee safewords. when or if they use them is on them..

Safeword for "pracical" purposes, e.g. the bondage is hurting is okay, allthough I do think that ticklers will imediately hear and see if something like that is happening. However if one or the other do not trust the tickler to notice this, a safeword should be used.

Safeword for "having had too much" is, to me, not a good idea: giving the lee a way to stop the torture, ruin both my feeling of control as well as the lees feeling of submission. Instead a time limit can be set up, so the lee knows that there will eventualy be an end - but untill then she is truly helpless.

IIRC, there are a number of rules that are expected to be followed when implementing bondage/BDSM such as having a safeword; and tickling isn't an exception to to that. I agree Rhiannon. It's just a good idea to have one on hand in case it needs to be used.. when and if it is used is totally up to the lee..

Just get tied up and you will see, lol! Being tied up makes a lot of people scared and helpless. Having a safe word makes them more comfortable and I have found it makes them have a whole lot more fun. Especially when it's their first time and don't know what to expect!

For safety reasons. If someone needs to go to the bathroom, if someone is feeling uncomfortable to the point where it's unbearble, maybe the tickling is actually starting to hurt a lot, maybe some people would get nervous after being tied up for a long period of time. It's always good to use a safeword wheather you're just starting out or not. I think thats why many people don't like using gags. It's understandable and you should respect someone who wants to use a safeword.

Safewords are like insurance( and can conceivably lower your insurance, call for a quote at...) and prevent the 'lee from having to be a master of charades if a problem exists. Safewords to be really effective should be non-judgemental and at least sixteen syllables long.( not) Anything that adds to the element of trust in a session is a good thang. Remember guys, this is the only time "no" doesn't mean "no"!!

I prefer not to use a safeword since I reallllly enjoy being tickle tortured until my tormentor feels like i've had enough haha but thats just me. Using a safeword is a great way to start out though especially if you're gonna be tied up for the first time. Nothing wrong with being safe 🙂

Others have covered everything I would have said myself. I will add that I personally think that everyone should have a safeword on hand, just in case. Even if you never feel the need to use it, it's just a nice thing to have in case there should be any real durress experienced. And the last thing anyone should want is for a session to go badly because someone misses a very important signal.

Safe words are a good thing trust me because it places a type of restriction when a lee just can't take anymore, this way they can re-group and regain their breathing. Without them (safe words) tickling could be endless and then ultimately the lee could become completely desensitized (not saying that would happen, but it could) to it, and that wouldn't be fun at all. I don't think it takes the fun out of tickling,it's just a good precaution to take.
