So many of you are members (or were previously lurkers turned members) who have been around the forum for many years.
Many people come and go because commitment, life, jobs, etc. get in the way.
Some people leave because they need a break away from the forum but eventually have a happily welcomed back return 🙂
MY question is about those type of posters who make dramatic, long threads, blogs, etc. about how they are leaving the forum for good, never to return, etc. They make it seem like their leaving the forum is going to make them appear like some sort of martyr.
And then surprise beyond surprise they usually, a LARGE majority of the time, come back and resume posting. Their excuses usually range from "I was angry when I posted that, blah blah blah," or "I wasn't in the right frame of mine, I needed time to think, blah blah," and so forth.
So my question is...WHY do they do this? Is it really SO dramatic for just one individual among several hundred thousand members to disappear? Yes they may be a friend to some, but if the friendship is really so important there are other ways to keep in contact aside from the forum.
I am sure there are some who make dramatic exits and really do leave for good (and for a good reason)...but most of the time it is just someone who appears to be crying for attention, even if it is negative.
So please give me any of your opinions on situations such as those! Thanks!
