A south Georgia man accused of having sex with a dog remained in jail Sunday night, five days after his arrest, a sheriff's office spokesman told the AJC.

Henry Gene Ivey, 39, has been charged with bestiality and burglary after he allegedly broke into a mobile home and had sex with the animal, the Colquitt County Sheriff's Office said.

Neighbors reported seeing Ivey walking two dogs just before 8 p.m. Monday, police said. Ivey allegedly took one of the dogs into the mobile home, and neighbors heard loud noises coming from the trailer, according to the report.

The first deputy at the scene went into the trailer and found Ivey having sex with the dog, police said.

Witnesses said the dog involved was a black mutt about the size of a Labrador retriever.

Ivey is being held on $20,000 bond.

As for the police officer, I'd find it massively uncomfortable to walk in on a situation like that, but at least it wasn't a person. I could get past a moment with a man and a dog like that with a few beers and a blog post. If it was a person, it would mess me up for a while, I should think.

Perhaps he was afraid the dog would be able to identify his home to the police if it ever reported being raped. Dogs have excellent memory for finding their way back to places they've been.

That would've been my last day on that job.....trust me.

It's reasons like this that dissuade me from seeking a career in that field. In my job, I get to carry a firearm for defense, and I only have ONE domain of responsibility: safely transporting money. I don't have to worry about getting assigned to cock-watch detail, or breaking up doggy rapists from their victims, etc.

A buddy I know who is a fire fighter has seen way worse than this honestly. He's had to clean up after situations such as a girl getting hit by a truck or something, and having pieces of her, guts, whatever all over the street.

He walked on a guy who killed himself with a bowflex or whatever by making it so the weight stack stayed up until he put his head into it and moved whatever was keeping it up and the weight came down and crushed his head.

Stuff like that. Likely a tad bit worse, but having never done either one, ya never know.

I was a member of a fetish group on Yahoo in 2008 where someone contacted the moderator off-group and told her that he had a dog trained to pleasure a woman. The mod then went onto the group's site and said it wasn't her thing but was anyone interested in trying it?

I let them know that putting that on the group's page was a terrible idea since it was illegal and fetish folks already have a bad rap even when they are at their best behaved. Plus, some members of an associated group had gotten busted at a swinger house for charging money (Google "Cherry Pit", "Duncanville") so who knows what kind of law enforcement was watching this group.

There was lots of debate about it and plenty of folks were of the "it doesn't hurt anyone/we should be accepting of other fetishes" mind. Several didn't think that way, but plenty did. A couple of 'em insisted that it wasn't even illegal.

I wrote to a lawyer about it, one who specilizes in animal-related crime. She said, oh yeah, it is for sure illegal, sited the penal code section and everything.

Some folks still didn't care.

I went back one last time and tried to let them know, that, yes, people do all sorts of not legal - but not harmful - things in their own homes that no one ever knows about (I have no illusions that people haven't gotten experiemental with a dog and peanut butter over the centuries. There are times to look the other way). But putting this on our group site as a "wannna give it a try?" was not a good idea. You're not going to see me posting about how I like sex with a 12 year old while I'm on an intense cocaine hig..... which I purchased with counterfeit money. (The coke, or the 12 year old? Yes..... ). I even posted a Smokinggun.com link where a couple had been busted in Arkansas for making videos of this same doggy-style activity.

Enough folks in the group still thought it was not a big deal, and were bothered that I pointed out that this group was not the place to "share". So I left.

I'm betting the debate in all it's moral outrage is still up on the group's page, though. They didn't even wipe away the fingerprints....
