Since we have been taking an inventory of broken bones, might as well talk about going under the knife.
I've only had one. Late in 2000 I started having intermittent pain in my right ankle. It would last anywhere from a few minutes to all day, and sometimes it would come and go during the day. It kept getting worse and since my job involved a lot of walking I finally went to a doctor.
An x-ray showed calcium deposits floating around in the ankle joint, so that's why it didn't hurt all the time. I had the operation late in June 2001 and was home later that day full of morphine. I was on crutches for about a week, and it took forever to recover. In fact, I was still off work and at home on 9-11. Turned on the TV just before the second plane hit.
