The Self Referential Thread

In fact, just dig out an old monitor and hook it up. That will buy you all the time you need.

It won't have HDMI, but it should have VGA. Look for a d-shaped shell and three rows of tiny pins closely spaced.

You have very nice taste in hardware.

Thanks. :ty: I have used them before. Its a pretty good company.

By the time I find an old monitor in the garage and a cable and drag them out. I will be able to apply for retirement. I already got a Velocity Proposal mailed to me 😀

Gents.

I gotta run for the night. Not sure when I will be on again. Take care. Peace and wuv.
:peace:  :bunny: 😀

I hope he's only trying to scare me.

Good night, Zod. A peaceful Sunday to you.

Impressive. I am surprised, though, that you don't run a larger screen for your graphics work.

Mine's a Lenovo that I picked at Fry's as last of stock. Chinese or whatever, it's been a good machine.

Well this might be only used to connect to the net and do some post processing work. I was debating whether just to get a 500-600 dollar laptop from Amazon. Either an Acer or Toshiba.

I have had decent luck with Toshiba, no opinion of Acer.

I am glad to learn that there is a serious-business builder engineering, assembling and selling laptops in America. Yours sounds like a giant-killer of a machine.

Does this all mean that you do your graphics on a dedicated workstation?

Its a phasing in sort of thing. I have Three Alienware stations and a Velocity Micro station. Two of the ALienwares have died. The last is still working. Since Dell bought out Alienware and it now ships out most of it tech service from Costa Rica I no longer buy from them.

That's some good geek porn. The most machine I have ever built was based on an Asus board running an AMD server chip and a pair of video cards. I later added a second monitor and ran for years until I lost one of the video cards.

Still, I keep all of these carcasses lying around. A couple of weeks ago, one of them saved me the price of a new power supply. This is the upside of being lazy and cheap.

I got a ton of carcasses. 😀 Even an old Falcon Northwest one. 😛
