Why is it illegal in Virginia to tickle women?

I was wondering if anybody knows why it was mad illegal to tickle women in Virginia? Was there some sort of abuse going on at one time? How long ago was the law put into effect? Does anybody in Virginia know if women in Virginia ever tease them about it? Do women in Virginia tickle men?

I dunno..., never heard of that one. All I know is that a whole lot of tickling has been going on in Virginia for a lot of years. And I've been doing a lot of that myself.

I've heard of this one. I think it is some kind of bilaw, a small one that everyone ignores like regulations governing where you can put your garden fence. I don't know why it came about or if it is indeed true.

There are lots of strange laws that are still on the books. Perhaps somebody started a thread about Silly Laws in The Silly Forum.:ermm:
 
Maybe back in the day men used to regularly torture their wives or something with tickling or some shit, beats me. But it's obviously a ridiculous law that no one follows so eh. Virginia is batshit crazy anyway.
 
I wouldn't worry about it....in Baltimore it's illegal to bring a lion to a movie theater!
 
There may be a law on the books...kinda like the one that Roanoke, VA had that said people couldn't take a horse to church on Sunday...but if any law against tickling in Virginia was being enforced, I would have been behind bars many years ago..

Looks like every time I visit hubby in Norfolk we simultaneously break all the Commonwealth laws listed above . So on top of breaking military laws, we're breaking civillian ones too. Sheesh.
 
It's a really really REALLY old law, it was made in the really early 1900's. So consider it harmless.
 
There are worse bilaws... for example, in some parts of England it is perfectly legal to murder a Welshman so long as it's at the stroke of midnight. (Major WTF moment).

in england its ilegal not to go to church on xmas day.... am so glad it ant been enforced for 300 years or so lol

In York, upon sight of a Scotsman with the city walls after dark, it is still legal to shoot him with a bow and arrow

In Chester, you can only shoot a Welsh person with a bow and arrow inside the city walls after midnight

In Hereford, you can shoot a Welsh person all day in the Cathedral Close, but only on Sunday with a longbow.
 
This is a law that is likely not enforced. Imagine, for example, a cop patroling Virginia Beach. It isnt likely that if a cop was walking along Virginia Beach, and saw a guy lying in the sand, tickling his gf or wife, that the tickler would be arrested.

This is a law that is likely broken every day. I'm sure there are plenty of ticklish women in Virginia who get tickled all the time.
