Your thoughts on seeing topics over and over again?

All respect back at ya, I'm allowed to give my opinion. And most new people don't post because they are still scared to delurk. I never said I was obligated to post in in any thread. All the years I've been on this forum, I have yet to see a "re-hashed" topic and put in a "different twist". It's always the same old, same old. And I feel that it is laziness, instead of actually searching for a similar thread and bring it back up. What's wrong with that?

Coup said it best:

Way to discourage new people from posting! 😉 On this flip-side of this, you get people that say, "Why'd you bump this old assed topic?!? It's dead for crying out loud!!" Catch 22?

It's sometimes a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" type thing.

If a person posts a thread about a topic that's be talked to death about, then people complain and wonder why they didn't just do a search for that topic and post in that thread.

But if a person revives an old thread by adding his two-cents to the topic, then people complain and wonder why they revived a dead thread.

You're screwed no matter what you do because there's always one person who complains.

I agree, there really isn't a win-win, 50-50, anything. There will never be a way to please everyone.

Funnily enough, this thread is more popular than the original. XD

You know... to answer the original question, lol.... I really don't see the big deal.

I think it's incumbant on all of us to be as welcoming as possible to new members... I can tell you that I have made some posts without "searching"... like please. Somebody new is trying to come on and be heard... what's the big deal?

I'm not talking about the ridiculous, which yes we often see... but often there is someone new or newer who will ask about verbal teasing, for example 😛 😀

You don't HAVE to reply to it you know... but it would be nice 😉

And for God's sake, put on your Green Light!! :jester:

Lol, you and the Green Light!

I agree leafy. Just because someone posts something doesn't mean I have to read it if I've seen something similar before. No big deal.

It’s sort of like seeing reposted video clips. It can be annoying at times, but then again it can be nice to see what new members think. Sometimes it could be a new person who didn’t know the topic had been brought up before also. Also it is interesting to see if anybodies opinions have changed.

Hehe! I know... I'll stop now 😛 😀

For sure... not a big deal. I think that's the best way to handle it, because like Nemesis mentioned, if someone does dredge up an old thread, then everyone jumps on them for resurrecting something that's supposed to be "dead", lol.

Besides, sometimes its refreshing to see a new take on something we may consider to be "old"....

In my sex forum, "the taste of cum" is a popular recurring topic. At least once a month, you'll see someone post that topic and a few of the more senior members jump down their throat and scare them off. Every now and then, you'll get someone that has a creative moment and posts, "the taste of cum... with Ritz Crackers." Old topic, new twist. It's few and far between, but it does happen. 😛
