Border issues....

Tropic thunder I'm sorry did i ask for your opinion and thats when i told

MrMacphisto
to take this arguement to another thread if you were reading carefully you would've understood what I was trying to say .
Leafstk sorry about your border issue hopefully you get that cleared up at times you will run into an asshole who take his job to serious I'm pretty sure you weren't armed, or suspicious of any drug trafficing, but I've had border issues before it sucks when it happens I guess my best advice to you would be always be prepared and you wont have to deal with bullshit

At any border crossing sometimes random checks are performed now and again. Since you were refused entry before, this would have been in the system, and showed up when they ran your details through the computer. It seems that US immigration decided to make trouble, though they could have exercised discretion and admitted you. Perhaps it had been a slow day, they needed to show a supervisor that they were doing their jobs, and you just happened to be unlucky. Sorry it happened.

Very frustrating. My fiancee is Canadian and every time I cross I worry that they'll deny me. There's no reason they should, but it's so stupid that they can, just because I'm crossing some invisible line (an invisible line we drew after stealing all the land within it from the original inhabitants, I might add). 'effing stupid.

I would definitely seek some guidance from a lawyer about that 600 dollar fee, you don't want to pay it and then find out you had to pay some OTHER fee instead. The border will fuck you like that. The Canadian side isn't bad - I've crossed almost every weekend for the past 8 years - but the American side has a tragically high number of hardasses who feel like they need to make a point by starting shit over every little thing.

But, you know, freedom or something.

Thanks mate 🙂

Yeah :sigh: Thanks for your thoughts... getting that advice as we speak. It will be taken care of, just frustrating as fuck.

a) I lived in Canada for many years. It IS difficult to cross.
b) I've friends in border services in US and Canada. Both US borders are tough crossing for non-Americans.
c) Editing threads for name-calling is irritating. One can disagree without petty actions.
d) Canada has had serious bust in the last 5 years for drugs coming FROM British Columbia to the US via a tunnel system, and there's been several meth and cannabis related busts on the Canadian side. Saw them in the papers up there more than down here.

Down here, we don't sweat Canada 'cause they back us in every military action. Cooperative governments. Not quite the same for Mexico. That's one long-assed history.

Thread goes back to polite now. Would be unfortunate to remove participants in what is otherwise a good topic to discuss.

Whatever you do, when they ask you "do you have any firearms?" don't respond with "well, what do you need?"

Josh hates taking me over the border.

Now that would be fucking awesome!!! If a guard who was told that laughed then there'd be some hope yet... Nonetheless, leafy, talk to the lawyer and figure out an alternative to the fine thing, if one exists. Keep plugging and looking for options - perhaps the reverse should begin to be considered, smuggling the lady into Canada.

Yes... please spare us the political BS, please and thank you.

Good question. All I know is that they cited a time in 1995 when I WAS refused entry, which was BEFORE I received my pardon. And as I said, I've been over many times since.

So why now? Fuckers :Grrr:

This maybe because of a archival records update or something... a guess!??.

I like how you think, Dogg 😉

She'll be coming up to see me when she receives her passport, which should be soon hopefully 🙂 In the meantime, I talked to "Pardons Canada" today and nope... there's no skating around it, because I'm in the computer system. So the process has begun... I didn't have to fork out the full amount today, just half. Sounds like it could take awhile :sigh:

Makes me want to pull my hair out, lol

Did they explain why? Considering you've been through before without a problem. Did some policy change in between the last time you were through and now?

Yeah, its happening to a lot of people now apparently. People who have crossed for years on business or to see family or whatever? Now they're being fucked over since the new laws went into effect about a year ago.

I still don't understand it. But because its in their system, I'm pretty much fucked without this waiver :disgust:

As a very good and mutual friend would say my friend, THAT IS FUCKING LAMEONADE!

apply at the police serves the one that arrested you for a record expunging .. doable because you have the pardon!

It's so stupid. Your original pardon should have been grandfathered in. :disgust:
